From freelancer to first team member of our new Estonian office –meet Anett!
As we kick off our new ResQ career blog, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on our team member, Anett.
Hi Anett! What is your role at ResQ?
Hey, I’m a Marketplace Manager in Team Estonia. I’m doing everything in my power that our Estonian users would have venues to resQue food from and that our partners have hungry people to sell their surplus food to. I am finding new partners for the platform; supporting existing ones; working closely with the Global team to develop and implement local and hyperlocal sales strategies; developing, implementing, and tracking marketing activities; responsible for social media; translating; and customer support. All of this I’m able to do thanks to my amazing and supportive team in Finland!
How did you end up working for ResQ?
In May 2021 I randomly saw a job ad in a FB group from ResQ that they are looking for a person who could do market research for them and somehow it spoke to me. I have always been into hospitality and being at home for more than a year with my firstborn it seemed refreshing to go out and speak about food waste in various different restaurants and cafes. Little did I know that this ended up as a full-time job in a super cool company.
How has your journey been so far?
Great! Seeing how a startup expands to a new market and playing a big part in it has been super exciting! I have always felt that my opinions matter and have been heard and I have a super supportive team behind me to implement my daily activities. Also, I like that I have a lot of different responsibilities, my job never gets boring ;)
Has something surprised you about growing a new market?
That everything runs quite smoothly, but I guess it’s also because we already have a really good product (and a hard-working team behind it) and a good mission we are fighting for. But of course, at the same time, nothing comes easy and I’m surprised that there are still companies who don’t see surplus food as surplus and they don’t want to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to sell their unsold food to nearby people and earn extra income.
What kind of challenges do you face in your work?
As the Estonian market is growing and with that comes more responsibilities, lately I feel the time is running away from me. Luckily our team is growing and I will have a colleague soon with whom I can share the responsibilities. Editor’s note: Team Estonia doubled in size shortly after this interview.
Can you describe the company culture at ResQ in three words?
Supportive team, autonomy and communicative.
What would you say to someone who is interested in joining ResQ Club?
Take the leap of faith, you won’t regret it!
